Tides of History

CHAPTER

The Rise of Rome and China

Rome was just one city, and not a particularly important one, in 5th century BC-Italy. The state of Qin was a backwater among a multitude of warring states prior to the time immediately before Xinxinghuangdiz unification. Liu Bang, who became the founder of the Han Dynasty as Emperor Gao Tzu, was a rebel leader born into a peasant family. These are just a few examples. If we want to truly understand the rises of Rome and China, then we need to understand all the other important things that were happening between the Atlantic and the Pacific and the 1st millennium BC.
