Matt Welch: The devaluing of humanities is predicated upon the idea that it's non humanity subjects. He says in Silicon Valley, people who really understand data analytics often are looking at the data and saying, I need a humanist in here. But they can't convince their executive to hire the humanist who can code because executives have drunk the Kool-Aid said only useful people should be engineers or neuroscientists he says. "It's irrational. The market isn't driving it" - Welch.
