The Ama and the Formulas
If feed yards would have remained smaller, would we be in some of the problem we are? No. If farmer feeders had remained more prevalent, because you wouldn't have had the the economy of scale to make the ama so enticing in the formulas. More feed lots means instead of one guy going to buy eight loads, it's eight guys going to buy one load. It has allowed the packers to actually own less cattle and less feed lots themselves. You know, they used to have to own em. Now they have the people that have the ama and and the formula kettle that're doing that for them.
