The First Real, Real Runner Who Really Earned It
Felix Hicks finished fourth place in the 1904 Olympic marathon. He walked from New Orleans, ran entirely and wore homemade boots on his feet. By the end of this race, Hicks had lost eight pounds of water weight. They say that he would have died had there not been four doctors on site to immediately treat him once he crossed the finish line.
