Mark and John are not the real names of the teenage boys involved in this case. The court placed an indefinite order prohibiting the true identities of anyone involved from ever being published. Mark was given a two year supervision order and banned from entering online chat rooms, though it is unlikely he would ever want to set foot in one again. Judge Madison believed both boys had a higher probability of rehabilitation. In handing down non-custodial sentences, Judge Madison said each of the boys was a victim of the other.
