Is the Jury Obligation to Follow the Law?
The outcome of this case would have likely been different if the jury had been exposed to what i'll just call the whole ball of wax, right? The decision that riddenus makes to come over in that entire context, if that had been part of the calculus for determining provocation, this could have been a different case. But as you say, the law imposes constraints. The judge instructs the jury on the law, and the jury's obligation is to follow the law as the judge gives it to them. So obviously the prosecution is disappointed. An i'm guessing, every case where there's acquittal, they believe that the case is righteous and just and they want a conviction.
