The Titan's Implosion
In 2018, Phil Wilkonen drafted a letter to Ocean Gates CEO Stockton Rush expressing concerns about the development of the Titan. It said our apprehension is that the current experimental approach adopted by Ocean Gates could result in negative outcomes from minor to catastrophic. We've been building submersibles that go a lot deeper than 4,000 meters for decades. And we're operating it every year, hundreds and hundreds of dives reliably. That's just a matter of following the rules.
