Bhil buckley said that you don't have to be religious, never mind orthodox or catholic. But a you have to have respect for religion and respect for the religious. So if one puts it so starkly as just einrand had contempt for religion, i don't think that is true. Religion was an arly primitive attempt to make sense of the world. In that way, it's a precursor of philosophy. It's trying to give you a world view that's telling you, this is the nature of the world you inhabit.
