He provided the political environment and framework within which Keating as Treasurer and then later as Prime Minister was able to reform the economy. Despite Hawke's absence of formal religious faith, there's a deep imprint from that whole tradition of Congregationalist Protestant Christianity. So I think that dripped very deeply into the soul of RJ Hawke and shaped him profoundly.
