Do We Really Need Population Control in India?

The right demographic paranoia fuels deadly violence here in the states. Christian nationalists insists the united states was founded as a christian nation, and the writers of the founding documents meant it to be achristian nation. Is there a similar belief about india being ginally from its independence and meant to be a hindoo nation? And if there is, how accurate is such an understanding of indian history?
