The Importance of Seymour Quest
I had been trying to be a children's book illustrator but really nobody was hiring me. I did one freelance job and then went to see somebody at Double Day with my illustrations. They said the best way to illustrate a children’s book is to write one. So I wrote a kids' book called the Brownstone that an editor lost it. He took the manuscript and he sold it, so I sort of had to write it because I lost the draft. It came out and it was in print for 25 years and then it went out of print. Now it's in the Museum of the City of New York where they're having on their writing program. But the book is
