Lithium and Copper - Both Relevant to the Energy Transition

In northern Chile, in the Atacama Desert, which is the world's driest desert and also oldest desert. The soft, silvery white alkali metal exists beneath the surface of underground lakes known as lithium brines. One of the primary sources of lithium are salt deserts known as Salars. In order to extract it, the saltwater from these underground lakes containing lithium is pumped up to the surface where it evaporates over several months into large basins or evaporation ponds.
