The Trail of Tears

The five tribes were the cherokee, muscoge or creek. They lived in waddle and dob log homes with roofs made out of bark. A traditional busk festival was a late summer event celebrating the ripening of crops. The term cherokee comes from a Creek flash word meaning people of different speech. Their numbers declined leading up to the trail of tears, roughly 16 thousand would be forcibly displaced.
