Children's Interrogation - The Challenges of Questioning Children

Police focused on children who had been seen playing with or near keven the night of his death. The police weren't used to questioning children regarding such serious matters, and they didn't know how to interpret their constantly changing answers. They enlisted the help of professionals who were trained in dealing with children, including those with different cultural backgrounds. Children's limited vocabulary make it difficult to have straightforward conversations,. Police also had to avoid asking any leading questions, complicating matters. Some parents flatly refused to let their children speak to the police. It was important that she built raport with the children so they felt safe and comfortable enough to talk.
