I think it's because one, we're obsessed with precocity, right? Because when Gladwell and I were having this discussion, you said like videos of young people doing things. And so the person who's ahead now will be proportionally the same amount ahead down the line. It turns out that that is absolutely untrue whether you're looking at sports or totally purely cognitive skills.
