The Importance of Having a Relationship With Your Family
The first thing we need to do is focus on our unconscious bias. This is not being aware of when one is making judgments or decisions based on prior experience, deep seated thought patterns, assumptions or interpretations. What we have found that if it's provider unconscious bias, it leads to the inaccurate diagnosis. Sometimes children have been diagnosed with ADHD later on in life, but prior to they were diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder. They were diagnosed with conduct disorder. There are different things that we can focus on to kind of help within the African American culture.
