The Struggles of Writing Speculative Fiction

There's all sorts of words in English that carry enormous cultural baggage dragging along behind them. Whereas valet immediately screams costume drama. Different writers try to solve this problems in different ways. I don't have a final answer to this. There's more than just language when you're doing that kind of world building thing.
