Is There a Career Structure in Physics?

Theory became fixed in the minds of really the baby boom generation of physicists. And those supposed physicists spent their time submitting papers to what's called, um, the high energy section of the so called pre print arcot. Most of these papers have nothing to do with high energy physics whatsoever.
