Hyogo Prefecture
It's a 30-minute, 25-minute train journey from Osaka station in central Osaka. From Tokyo you can either fly to Kobe or take a Shinkansen to Shino Saka. Lots of really good hiking in Hyogo as well, lots of nature, it's a great place.
