I think people will probably be a little optimistic on what Siersky's announced, defensive operation could achieve. I'm not fully sure what its goal was. It might have been just, as he said it, a defensive operation to enable them to withdraw or an attempt to counterattack and take advantage of the infighting between Wagner and Russian forces. But here's my sense of it. After this, the way the battle plays out is that Wagner forces ultimately do press the Ukrainian military out of the remaining parts of Bakhmuk.
