The Perfect Storm of 1984
On December 3, 1984, 40 tons of methyl isocyanate (MIC) spewed from the UCL plant in Bullpaul. MIC was a more toxic chemical than cyanide that was used to make pesticide. Workers began to flee for their lives at 1.30 am and the gas leak didn't stop until 2.15am. BBC's documentary One Night in Bullp Paul reported that the sleeping city barely heard the alarm.
