The Sun Is a Black Body Object
We are going to take a safe look at the sun, not by staring at it, but by thinking about it. And so first we will think about the sun just as a black body object or as something which glows due to its temperature. If you're an object like the sun at 5000 degrees Kelvin, you tend to emit mostly in the visible spectrum,. But you also emit at lower and higher frequencies. It's a very broad range there. The sun isn't limited to only emitting light at one frequency, but it does tend to peak at exactly the kind of frequency that our eyes are good at seeing.
