James Renner: Michael Shannon was convicted of killing his cousin's brother. Two jurors had reasonable doubt that Shannon committed this crime, but with a split vote of 10 to 2 he was convicted in 2011. Even the district attorney has since acknowledged that Shannon is innocent. The Supreme Court will soon hear the case of one, Evangelisto Ramos, a Louisiana man who was convicted of murder by a 10 to 2 split jury.
