There is some exploration of that in the latter part of the book, but it's not overdone and we don't spend so much time in it that that becomes the central piece of the story. Instead, it becomes a real, a real resting way of dealing with how complex life is. There are several other levels of this relationship that vin has with ellen, with with sased, with the crew with the empire.
