Niger is one of the primary launch facilities for American drones in the region. France sees all of this pushback against what they see as colonial oppression into other countries like the United States, Canada or Germany. I found that I could drive through roadblocks by speaking poor French and having a British flag much more easily than my French counterparts, for example. We're discussing Francophone Africa, we usually purchase states like Mali, Mauritania or Algeria,. But former French African colonies go all the way down to Gabon in the Republic of Congo.
