"This is one of those times where you imagine being pappy in this situation," he says. "You expect pappy to go inverted on top of him and flip him the bird or something like that" Boington's wingman, who was Don Fisher, they called him Mo, saw a Japanese zero off his tail but didn't know what it was. He lost Boington during an aerial dogfight with about 60-70 aircraft.
