Gatorade - The University of Florida's Mascot, the Gator
There's an urban legend that Gatorade was invented by doctors at the University of Florida. Dr. Robert Cade and some colleagues concluded players were sweating out too much water, salt and burning through too many calories without replenishing any of it. They mixed up water, sugar and some salt, added some lemon juice to mask the funky taste and made Gatorade. In 1967, the Gators won the orange bowl for the first time - supposedly because they didn't have Gatorade in their system.
