The Vicarious Results of Trauma
There are a lot of shame memories that accumulate in the psyche around this fractured new experience of self, like these selves betray your own self definition. So let's say you take on a habit of compulsively eating or abusing drugs. That will feel shameful, because it's obviously not in alignment with all of the other goals that the adult grown up yet should done self has. These types of shame memories are often more insidious and difficult to access in therapy. They're they're much harder to heal from because they don't have context.
