The Importance of Transon in Africa
The company that everybody needs to know about and so few people outside of Africa actually know about is a company called Transon which is based in Shenzhen, China. They saw an opportunity in Africa to build phones that were specifically tailored for African consumers. Today I think the valuation for Transon is somewhere around seven billion dollars mostly coming from Africa. So they prove not only that there's a huge market in Africa for devices if you build them for the customers but that it's possible to reach scale across the continent. There are signs that we may continue to see decoupling happening in all platforms including mobile technology. Then we have been following this tension between the United States and China over the years
