The Early History of Pithakusai
Archaeologists at Pithakusai have found Ubean pottery, but it wasn't the dominant form of Greek pottery. Phoenician pottery is also incredibly common. The metal objects found in burials were either imported from the Italian mainland or made in the settlement based on native forms. It was clearly a place with increasingly intense contact with Greece.Greek pottery styles and modes of wine consumption were becoming popular there. Only over the subsequent decades did Pithaku really become Greek thanks to a massive influx of migrants.
