How Whistle Registers Are Mapped to Consistent Categories Within a Language

continuous will have a smooth drop in amplitude but little or no silence interrupted will have a sharp drop and a distinct period of silence delayed will have the gradual drop off. Not all whistle registers use all three of those distinctions they might only use two or they might not have any articulation distinctions. But altogether that gives you possibly up to five places of articulation and then three manners of articulation that are all distinguishable.
