From 19 forty five to 19 56, approximately 57 to 73 children from the walter e enald state school were recruited to join what was referred to as the fernald science club. Fernald was a home for theis a really, really nasty term, yes, feeble minded. That refers to wha we would now describe as being lmentally disabled kids. In many of these cases, kids who simply had been abandoned by their parents.
