The Importance of Moral Panic in AI

I sincerely believe that the people developing these things are not evil geniuses. They're generally thinking, how can we solve problems? How can we make the world better? And I think they do that rather sincerely. The problem is that they believe it and in acting on it, they mobilize ideology. We have to become much better critical consumers of this kind of product.
