I did not do a 1031 exchange. I think that investors look at that as a given when you sell real estate. But once I really researched it and looked into it I don't think it's always a given, because my ex and I were not trying to build out our real estate portfolio. We weren't selling them to try to acquire more real estate anyways so that was part of the reason.
