The idea that you can't just invade a neighboring country and conquer it ad wiping it off the map goes far, far deeper than liberal democracy. The most basic rule established in the international arena is that you no longer do these things which ware very common rumming throughout history. You don't do that even if you are an arab dictatorship or a military hunta in south America. I think this is part of of the shock that, you know, that the shock waves around the world, that people realize that if putin succeeds, if putin is allowed to win, then this will become the new normal all over the world.
