CHAPTER

The Giselius of Sparta

A Giselius was the king of Sparta for more than 30 years. He died in Egypt, and his body was buried with wax since they had no honey to give it as a funeral rite. The Egyptian Pharaoh offered him lavish gifts but he turned them down because he would rather fight on behalf of Sparta. This episode is an excerpt from Plutarch's life; you can read the full account at the end of plutarch's career.
