The Ticking of a German Clock
The ticking of a clock always made me feel like time was running out, as if I could sense the end of my life closing in on me. When I tried to talk mom into keeping the old thing, I told her I didn't feel right taking it when it was all she had left of dad's collection. "I put down Schrodinger's breakfast and I took that clock out to the trash on the curb," he says.
