The Consequences of Declining Literacy
The decline of literacy in the United States has some people thinking we're becoming an oral culture again. But that's not what it is, and there are certain things that kind of define what an oral culture is. So our entire Bible was actually written within oral cultures. These were not literate cultures. The way that information was passed and learned was largely via people either reading texts or hearing texts. And just because we get information audibly doesn't mean that we're become an oral culture.
