The Photoelectric Effect of a Particle Accelerator
The cathode ray works in a cycle. First, it's scanned across the grains to apply a nice even charge. After the initial charge is spread, the beam comes back for another cycle. This time, each grain that's blasted will rebound those incoming electrons. That signal can then be picked up and turned into an image by a television.
