The Potential of Water Hyacinths to Clean Drinking Water
Water hyacinths were used by Disney to clean water as Myra mentioned earlier. When they become invasive in rivers and lakes they can actually cause waters to stagnate. This has caused a huge problem for the area's ecosystem. Fish stocks plummeted while mosquito populations have boomed. The poor water quality also gives rise to water bond diseases like malaria, chicken guinea, dengue which are from the mosquitoes.
