The Cataclysm and the Rebels

Almost always, the cataclysm will be presented as something abstract. The enemy will not be human, even if it employs a human army. All varieties of rebels are the king's subjects and he will feel an alignment with them. It is very possible for even far gone rebels to be redeemed by the king's sacrifice in the end.
