Is It Right to Read Aristotle as Just Teaching Us How to Live?

Is it right to read Aristotle as just giving us a rule book, teaching us how to live? Yes and no. He says there's no point in doing philosophical ethics unless it has a practical payoff. But on the other hand he thinks that his book cannot do your ethical thinking for you. You have to have been brought up in the right way.
