Is There a Cost to Assimilation?
In the early twentieth century, late nineteenth century, you would have these groups of people that t didn't work very well together. And so then you'd have a situation where employers would say, whell, we're not going to hire the irish. Sol basically says, look, that's just an economic fact. It might be difficult for some period of time before these groups assimilate. But until then, you can't just go blaming everybody. You can't blame the employer because he wants to be able to make a profit.
