There's a lot that she says about the characteristics of discursive language and grammar and syntax. But you use language in the dimension of time. And one of the things that a picture does, or some sort of pictorial representation, is it presents you with all the information simultaneously. You can't abstract a paint stroke out of a picture and think of that like a word that you took out of a sentence. It has no function outside of its presentation in that context.
