Eudorus and numenius seem to have adopted the two obvious, but incompatible solutions. Neumenius doesn't see how a principle of multiplicity like the diad can come from a principle of unity. Plotinus was occasionally tempted by this idea, but ultimately rejected it along with other duellist elements found in middle platonists.
