Your Task Is to Convict the World of Guilt When They Sin

In john 16, jesus says that one job of the holy spirit is to convict the world of guilt with regard to sin. When you love your parent well, their heart will either harden toward you or soften towards you but the status quo will be no more. Your desire to talk to your parents about some of the ways they have hurt you often comes from a longing for a deeper, more honest relationship with them. Much of what you think of honoring is not honoring at all. A passive pleasantness in which you never disrupt the current state of an unhealthy relationship is not honoring in the slightest.
