A lot of anti-ADHD books came out in the 1970s and a lot of them pushed quote unquote facts that have now been disproven. The American Academy of Pediatrics published their first statement about ADHD in 1975 called medication for hyperkinetic children. Study after study has looked at this in groups and the vast majority of ADHD folks are not affected over much by sugar or food dyes or gluten, etc.
