Calvinists are accusing our belief about how faith works as a true response. They're treating it as if it must be considered meritorious. And that is wrong. The reason you meet atonement is because we all have sinned and we all have to have our debt paid. So faith doesn't earn anything. Trusting in Christ, asking for repentance doesn't cause you to be repent or get forgiven. It doesn't atone for your sin. It's like saying to the guy you just robbed, oh, sorry, I repent of robbing you, but you never give him any money back. That's not making it right. Saying you're sorry for something doesn't merit
