We're quite evidently globally living through an era of political disruption and backlash to all types of movements for equality but there's a particularly macho-fascistic aspect to the rise of certain political leaders in the world. In eastern europe and in Russia you've seen the rise of these kind of strong men masculinist leaders who very much espouse this form of religious conservatism that is very threatening to gender rights.
