The Economics of Tokenization
The interchange and the scheme fees is, you know, perhaps just one component that merchants need to think about when it comes to the total cost of ownership associated with running a tokenization program. So for example, if you're using a third party provider of tokenization gateway, some sort of tokenization specific platform out there. You will see scenarios where some major players like Stripe, for example, do charge platform fees for cards that are kept on file, regardless of whether they're tokenized or not. But all this needs to be weighed against the benefits of tokenization programs, which include things like security, better fraud protection as we talked about earlier.
